Event: 'Green Hop Weekend' Print
  General
This is the default category
Date: Saturday, October 09, 2010 - 12:00
Duration: 1 Day 10 Hours

Green hop beers can only be made at a certain time of year......

...directly after the harvest. Green hops add a strong, oily resinous bitterness to the beers flavour but must be used within approximately 48 hours of picking.

Green hop beers on over this weekend are Boston Fat Boy and I.G.A.

Our green hops are of the Pilgrim variety which is a UK hop.
Pilgrim is a mid-late ripening very Wilt resistant dual-purpose variety hop, which was developed at HRI Wye and released in 2000. It has the same father as First Gold and Herald although it is not a dwarf variety. Pilgrim has a very vigorous growth habit and has good resistance to both powdery and downy mildew. It has shown to be the most Wilt resistant variety to date and is a very high yielder.

Our pilgrim hops were grown by Mr & Mrs Richard Capper from Stocks Farms, suckley, Worcestershire.
