George & Dragon gets 'Pub of the Month' award

The Hinckley & Bosworth  CAMRA Pub of the Month award for June 2012 was made to Katie Elliott at the George & Dragon, Stoke Golding.

 Before presenting the award, David Finn, the Chairman, said: " Following a vote of The Hinckley & Bosworth CAMRA membership, we are delighted to give the George & Dragon at Stoke Golding the award of Pub of the Month for June 2012. This pub is the Church End Brewery’s first venture into the licensed market and the building has been completely refurbished and offers a traditional pub feel. The beers are excellently kept, the lunchtime food is home cooked and locally sourced and it fulfils the main criteria of a traditional pub, including a warm welcome and a place for locals and visitors alike to meet and talk. One of CAMRA’s main campaigns for 2012/3 is to try and raise the profile of pub going and increase the numbers visiting pubs. If there were more pubs like the George & Dragon, this task would be much easier to achieve. Congratulations go to the landlady Katie and her team who thoroughly deserve this award !"
